1st Point Cook Scout Group originally started on the Point Cook RAAF base. It was officially opened on the 29th Sept 1975.
At the time Point Cook was a little community with many families living on the RAAF base and not much more between there and Laverton (population approximate of 3000). Around 2002, there were huge parcels of land sold off for housing and the population was growing rapidly.
The base had changed its access and it was no longer open to the public (except for the Air Museum) and therefore a local venture was sought to house the Scout Group. In 2006, the 1st Point Cook Scout Group moved to the new Jamieson Way Community Centre (JWCC), then in Jan 2019 we moved into a new purposed built Scout Hall in Point Cook.
The Brian Geary Scout Hall is located on the grounds of the Carranballac College, 1 Foxwood Drive, Point Cook.
Due to the expansion of Point Cook the Scout Group, we currently have 1xJoey Mob, 2x Cub Packs, 2x Scout Troops and a Venturer Unit combined with the District, but some sections still have a waiting list for families wanting to join.
The local community of Point Cook now has an estimated population of 36,000 people living in it.
